Sonam Arora’s journey is a testament to perseverance, self-belief, and the power of community support.
In 2015, Sonam arrived in Australia as an international student, bringing with her a strong academic background in Library and Social Sciences. She commenced her Master of Social Science at Western Sydney University, where like many international students, she faced challenges adapting to a new academic system. Despite early setbacks—failing two units in her first term—Sonam remained undeterred. With resilience and determination, she sought guidance from university professors, learning how to avoid plagiarism and develop her academic writing skills.
In 2016, Sonam transitioned to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program, where she immediately found her passion.
Social Work allowed her to truly connect with community needs and develop practical solutions to support individuals and families. During her first placement, Sonam was part of the early implementation phase of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), attending planning meetings and contributing meaningfully to the process. She worked closely with experienced supervisors and constantly challenged herself to learn from the best professionals in the industry.
Motivated to continue making a difference in Australia, Sonam embarked on the journey toward permanent residency. Like many students, she encountered the challenges of English language testing. It took multiple attempts, but Sonam eventually achieved outstanding results—Band 9 in IELTS and perfect scores of 90 in each section of the PTE Academic. Her perseverance paid off: she received five invitations from the Australian Government, including one for the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) and four for the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189). Despite being told that 70 points were not enough for NSW, Sonam proved the critics wrong—while many were still navigating the 491-visa process.
Following her permanent residency, Sonam co-authored the Amazon #1 international bestseller “Insights from the Extraordinary Coaches” alongside 22 elite authors from around the globe. This book showcases her deep commitment to serving humanity through leadership and empowerment.
Sonam now dedicates her career to guiding students in Community Services and Social Work. With over 2.5 years of experience supervising more than 500 students across NSW, Victoria, and Queensland, she has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in this field. Sonam specialises in supporting students through their work placements and guiding them through the skills assessment process with ACWA/CWA, and AASW. Her insider knowledge and practical experience make her a trusted mentor for students seeking clarity and direction.
